How God Guides Through His Word, Peace, Wisdom, and Sometimes Dreams , Without Being Misled
“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it…” Isaiah 30:21 (KJV)
We live in a fast generation , a generation of noise, phone screens, TVs, schedules, deadlines, bills, notifications, and constant movement. Families wake up early, rush through the day, return home tired, and go to bed late, only to repeat the cycle again. Many homes are busy, but not many homes are quiet. Many families are connected to Wi-Fi, but disconnected from God.
Yet God is still speaking today just as He did in the Bible. The problem is not that God is silent , the problem is that many homes are too noisy to hear Him.
God Still Speaks , But We Must Be Still
The Bible says, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10 KJV). Stillness is now rare in modern family life. The television is on, the phone is in hand, music is playing, and even when it is quiet outside, the mind is loud with worry and responsibilities.
If a family never becomes still, they may never clearly recognize God’s direction. Many wrong decisions are not made because people are wicked, but because they are too busy to hear God say “wait,” “stop,” or “this is the way.”
God Speaks Through His Word First
Many people say they want to hear from God, but their Bible is closed throughout the week. God’s voice will never contradict His Word. The primary way God guides a family is through Scripture. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
In a confusing world, the Bible becomes the family compass. When families read the Word together, they begin to think differently, make decisions differently, and handle problems differently.
God Speaks Through Peace
Not every direction in life will come as a loud voice. Sometimes God guides through peace or lack of peace. “Let the peace of God rule in your hearts…” Colossians 3:15 (KJV)
Peace is like an umpire in the heart , it tells you when to move and when to wait.
God Can Also Speak Through Dreams and Visions : But With Caution
The Bible shows that God sometimes speaks through dreams and visions.
“For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night…” Job 33:14–15 (KJV)
God spoke through dreams to Joseph, Daniel, Solomon, and Joseph the husband of Mary. So we must not say God cannot use dreams , He can.
But the Bible also warns us: “For a dream cometh through the multitude of business…” Ecclesiastes 5:3 (KJV)
This means not every dream is from God. Some dreams come from stress, fear, worry, and the many things on our minds. Therefore, dreams must be tested, not just believed.
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God…” 1 John 4:1 (KJV)
How to Test Dreams and Visions
- Does it agree with the Bible?
- Does it lead to righteousness and not sin?
- Does it bring peace and clarity, not confusion and fear?
- Is it confirmed through prayer and wise counsel?
- Is it repeated or confirmed over time?
Never make major life decisions based on a dream alone!!!!!!!!.
Let dreams be confirmed by the Word of God, prayer, and wise counsel.
Safe Order of Guidance
| Order | How God Guides |
| 1 | The Bible (Word of God) |
| 2 | Prayer |
| 3 | Inner peace from God |
| 4 | Wise counsel |
| 5 | Circumstances |
| 6 | Dreams and visions |
A family that follows dreams without the Word may be misled, but a family that follows the Word will not be misled , even when God uses dreams.
The Greatest Enemy Today Is Distraction
Distraction slowly pushes God out of daily life: Too busy to pray,Too tired to read the Bible
- Too distracted to listen
- Too rushed to think
- Too entertained to reflect
A family can love God and still become spiritually dull simply because life is too crowded.
Simple Ways Families Can Hear God
- Pray together as a family
- Read the Bible together
- Create quiet time in the home
- Worship together sometimes at home, or virtually when not together in same place
- Discuss major decisions together in prayer
- Occasionally fast as a family
Final Thought
A family that hears God does not happen by accident , it happens by intention. If we do not create space for God, the world will fill every space we have. May our homes not be too busy for God.
May our hearts not be too loud for His voice.
May our families be guided ,not just educated, not just successful ,but guided by God.
Prayer
“Lord, teach our family to hear Your voice.
In a world full of noise, help us to be still.
Guide us through Your Word, Your Spirit, and Your peace.
Lead us in the right way, and let us not walk in our own understanding.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
