When Heaven feels quiet
There are seasons in life when heaven feels quiet. Prayers rise… but answers do not immediately return. You fast. You cry, You wait, and it feels as though God is silent. Yet silence does not mean His absence. And waiting does not mean abandonment.
I remember a season in our family when one of our daughters faced what seemed like a devastating career setback. After investing more than seven years of her life ,enduring challenges, sacrifices, and perseverance , she was suddenly placed on probation, set for dismissal from her professional program. It felt like the worst had happened.
We prayed morning, afternoon, night even at midnight. We cried before God. Yet everything seemed to grow quieter… and harder.
Still, in our brokenness as parents, we held on to one truth: God has not failed us yet. Even when it felt like He was silent, we reminded ourselves that He had always come through before.
Honestly I almost gave up on the matter after a while but my husband kept holding on declaring it will not happen as the devil as intended.
And He did again , she was taken by a better, bigger and higher program with better opportunities in another state, not in the way we expected but better .“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (KJV)
While we were asking God to restore what was lost, He was working behind the scenes, preparing something entirely different , and far better. He opened a new door we had not even thought to knock on still in the same career. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Silence Is Not Rejection
Sometimes God is working in ways we cannot see and we cannot understand. His delays are not denials. His silence is not indifference. He sees the full picture , we only see the page we are standing on.
📖 Isaiah 55:8–9 (KJV)
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.”
Even the Faithful Experienced Silence
David cried out in confusion: 📖 Psalm 13:1 (KJV)
“How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?”
Job wrestled with heaven’s quietness. 📖 Job 23:8–10 (KJV)
“Behold, I go forward, but he is not there… But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” Notice this: They questioned but they did not walk away. They felt silence but they held onto trust.
What God Does in the Waiting
Waiting is not wasted time. It is a refining time. Waiting deepens faith. Waiting exposes idols.Waiting strengthens endurance.Waiting matures character. Faith grows strongest in unseen seasons.
📖 Romans 8:25 (KJV)
“But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it..
Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…”
The Danger of Impatience
In waiting seasons, the temptation is to “help” God. To force doors. To settle for less or compromise. Running ahead drains it.
💙 What to Do When God Is Silent
- Search your heart and life be sure you are free from sin, turn to Jesus if your ways are not right with God, repent and forsake that sin
- Keep Praying – Even if your words are few.
- Stay in the Word – His voice still speaks through Scripture.
- Worship Anyway – Praise shifts perspective.
- Trust His Character – When you cannot trace His hand, trust His heart.
📖 Lamentations 3:25–26 (KJV)
“The Lord is good unto them that wait for him… It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.”
